1. 항상 겸손하여라. 그리하면 너를 향한 그 어떤 칭찬과 비난에도 흔들리지 않을 것이다.
2. 내가 이곳에서 죽어가는 사람들을 위해 봉사활동을 한다고 했을 때, 누군가는 나에게 그러다 너까지 죽으면 어떡하려고 그렇게 위험한 곳에서 일하느냐고 했었다. 그렇지만 내가 언젠가 한 번은 죽어야 한다면, 이곳에서 그들을 위해 일하다 죽는 것 또한 퍽 아름다운 죽음이 아닐까 하고 나는 생각했다.
